Statistical and Computational Tradeoff of Regularized Dantzig-type Estimators
Nesterov’s smoothing technique has been widely applied to solve nonsmooth optimization problems involving high dimensional statistical models. However, existing theory focuses more on its computational properties rather than statistical properties. This paper bridges this gap by studying a family of regularized Dantzig-type estimators. For these estimators, we show that the smoothing technique ...
متن کاملRate Minimaxity of the Lasso and Dantzig Estimators
We consider the estimation of regression coefficients in a high-dimensional linear model. A lower bound of the minimax `q risk is provided for regression coefficients in `r balls, along with a minimax lower bound for the tail of the `q loss. Under certain conditions on the design matrix and penalty level, we prove that these minimax convergence rates are attained by both the Lasso and Dantzig e...
متن کاملNormalized Tenacity and Normalized Toughness of Graphs
In this paper, we introduce the novel parameters indicating Normalized Tenacity ($T_N$) and Normalized Toughness ($t_N$) by a modification on existing Tenacity and Toughness parameters. Using these new parameters enables the graphs with different orders be comparable with each other regarding their vulnerabilities. These parameters are reviewed and discussed for some special graphs as well.
متن کاملSup-norm convergence rate and sign concentration property of Lasso and Dantzig estimators
Abstract: We derive the l∞ convergence rate simultaneously for Lasso and Dantzig estimators in a high-dimensional linear regression model under a mutual coherence assumption on the Gram matrix of the design and two different assumptions on the noise: Gaussian noise and general noise with finite variance. Then we prove that simultaneously the thresholded Lasso and Dantzig estimators with a prope...
متن کاملNormalized laplacian spectrum of two new types of join graphs
Let $G$ be a graph without an isolated vertex, the normalized Laplacian matrix $tilde{mathcal{L}}(G)$ is defined as $tilde{mathcal{L}}(G)=mathcal{D}^{-frac{1}{2}}mathcal{L}(G)mathcal{D}^{-frac{1}{2}}$, where $mathcal{D}$ is a diagonal matrix whose entries are degree of vertices of $G$. The eigenvalues of $tilde{mathcal{L}}(G)$ are called as the normalized Laplacian eigenva...
